delay the South.

Post by Paradox »

delay their cheap, disposable 'friendliness'.

delay their gossipy, backstabbing social culture.

delay their superstitions.

delay their self-satisfied ignorance and pride in self sabotage.

delay their blame passing way of doing business.

delay their nepotism and good ol boy club incompetence.

delay me for being raised here and staying here.

Who picked "delay" as the censor word? Why are things censored? Why are there different forums here at all? Questions only TD can answer, and I don't even want to talk about it. why am I posting

My favorite southernism is how "Well bless your heart" is basically "delay You!"

Yep.

Oh, and all the self destuctive manufactured petty drama created simply because there is nothing to do here. I imagine fly over country and Alaska has the same problem.

Though Bless Your Heart is more specifically, You're Retarded. Some younger people are starting to replace it with 'Bless It'.

That probably explains why a lot of the best metal comes out of the south. Boredom and bullshit breeds nihilism something wicked.

Could be that my tendency to adore southerners is like left wingers' love of Muslims. I have very little exposure to them so there is that exotic charm of somebody I see as misunderstood and a bit oppressed.

Well.... you aren't far off. Islam and the south are both highly dysfunctional honor cultures. Islam far more so, but a lot of the feckless posturing seems remarkably similar.

I mean, Southerners are creative, filthy, wild, and hilarious too. So they have that going for them.

I guess this is also why there are so many weaboos.

Any sufficiently remote distinctional culture is less of a threat than a curiosity.

At least when Japan's honor culture drives someone to suicide, they don't take anyone else with them.

That's because theirs is directed inward more than anything else.

Ours is more generally inclined to look outward. Or to bastardize Patton: We'd rather make the other guy did for his "dishonor" rather than die for our own.

Being a Southerner myself, I'm curious where you are and what specifically you are encountering.

Why would you stay somewhere you hated? I don't get that.

Lack of employment/living options elsewhere, I would imagine. Not many people undertake long-distance moves without having a job lined up on the other side. For the ones that do, you usually find the independently wealthy(or at least, well equipped with a savings account to get then through being unemployed), family/friends support networks, or homeless people.

Certain professions are even worse for portability, as different states have different accreditation/licensing requirements, and the associated costs may not be cheap.

I thought I had mentioned recently that I live in South Carolina.

And Rotten, there's a few things which can keep a person from being able to just uproot and go wherever they please. Are you really having a failure of imagination?

Obviously I'm afraid of airplanes, my car broken down, my feet were cut off, and the last time I got on a bus I was tongue kissed by a hobo, so I'm staying here until a plan comes together.

They had to be surgically removed.

One of the local forest clowns nibbled them in my sleep and they became infected.
