Let's get an SSL cert
Let's get an SSL cert
I'll pitch in for an SSL certificate so we can make our authentication creds a little less naked. https://www.namecheap.com/security/ssl- ... oClZrw_wcB
Re: Let's get an SSL cert
I'll consider it, need to see about rebasing the dns server away from Rask's ISP anyway as I'd like to shut Rask down by the end of the year.
Can't do it in the immediate future though. Might start some of the process tonight, probably need a walk through on some of it.

Re: Let's get an SSL cert
Ishy,
What do you think of letsencrypt.com?
Just wondering because I came across some people talking about it on a chatroom for sysadmins.
Our go-to company was RapidSSL, here at work.

Re: Let's get an SSL cert
I don't care. SSL is mostly just there so the lazy port sniffers don't delay with you.Rotten wrote:What do you think of letsencrypt.com?
As long as my system supports it out of the box, whatever.

*Bump*
This is the consequence of having phpbb. People will bump threads they care about.

I sent an email to TD. This is on the radar.Ishpeck wrote:*Bump*

Re: Let's get an SSL cert
You need to say "please do the needful", Ishy.

I used to work with a lot of Indians at my last shop. The term was always "We need to best practice this initiative."
Re: Let's get an SSL cert
Cert has been purchased, cwal.net was also renewed for another year and a transfer from godaddy to namecheap is currently going on between registrars. Presuming I set things up right on their nameservers, it should be a fairly seamless transition. Just the server here needs to configured for hotel.cwal.net rather than tank.cwal.net so that once the transfers settle out, the cert can be activated.

Wildcard cert may have been easier but shouldn't be an issue.TheDeamon wrote:Cert has been purchased, cwal.net was also renewed for another year and a transfer from godaddy to namecheap is currently going on between registrars. Re: Let's get an SSL cert
I can has port 443?
Re: Let's get an SSL cert
I should have done the nameserver xfer before doing the xfer of registrars, currently locked out of changing the nameservers, and GoDaddy is taking their sweet time releasing their hold on the domain, looking like it won't transition until right at, or shortly after ICANN's specified maximum time allowance for conducting an xfer at this point. Which is a really fucking stupid thing for them to do, that doesn't exactly endear me to their service as to possibly giving them business in the future, quite the opposite really.
Re: Let's get an SSL cert
Oh, the registry transfer failed because GoDaddy.
Will see about the name servers in the next couple days. After that is done will try again at getting away from GoDaddy.

Re: Let's get an SSL cert
Well, almost a week later, just made the initial Name Server change. We'll see what explodes in the next couple days I guess.
Re: Let's get an SSL cert
Looks like it would have been quite the explosion if I hadn't caught something. Namecheap evidently dumped my zone files in the interim.
Fixed.

Re: Let's get an SSL cert
I guess I should get unlazy on this, and also get things redirected to hotel.cwal.net while I'm at it.
Particularly as Lothos goofed up and then panicked after mentioning this forum on the RR.
Shawn's currently being smug on the RR regarding not being invited over here.

Probably time to see about throwing a selection page on forum.cwal.net soon ish as well. Guess I'm going to be busy for Christmas day once I get home.

Re: Let's get an SSL cert
A selection page sounds positively wasteful. Just tell them to come over and watch them not do it
Re: Let's get an SSL cert
Oh hey, looks like Rotten already has it working on the hotel subdomain.
Re: Let's get an SSL cert
"It" does not appear to mean "an SSL certificate."TheDeamon wrote:Oh hey, looks like Rotten already has it working on the hotel subdomain.
